Fire Suppression

Service excellence through continuous improvement.

Fire Suppression

We offer commitment on all projects.

When a fire breaks out, system-critical areas and areas where a fire needs to be contained quickly may require additional protection. Fire suppression systems offer this protection, quickly controlling or extinguishing a fire in order to safely contain it and ensure minimum disruption is caused to the business following the outbreak.
Gas Suppression
A gas suppression system will detect a fire, and will quickly and automatically disperse gas within a room in order to smother and extinguish the fire. A minimum of two detectors will need to detect fire, in order to prevent false alarms, with a warning alert provided after the first alarm in order to enable site personnel to investigate a potential hazard. We can provide bespoke gas suppression systems with a variety of extinguishants, each with their own benefits (including FM200, Argonite, NovecTM 1230 and Carbon Dioxide), and conduct room integrity testing in order to ensure the correct operation of the gas suppression system.
Sprinkler Systems
Sprinkler systems are a network of pipes charged with water, with sprinkler heads connected to the pipes in the areas requiring protection. When hot air – usually 68 to 74 degrees Celsius – reaches a sprinkler head, it will disperse water, suppressing and/or extinguishing the fire. Sprinkler heads do not activate all at once, and will only provide suppression where the heat threshold is reached, thereby minimising the amount of water dispersed during an activation. If the fire is severe enough and spreads quickly, the next closest sprinkler head will actuate when the required temperature is reached.
Ansul Systems
An ANSUL (cooker hood) fire suppression system provides a system designed specifically to protect areas associated with cooking equipment. Capable of automatic or manual activation, the system will quickly discharge a fire suppressant over designated areas, immediately smothering the fire and thereby reducing business costs associated with damage, clean-up and downtime following an incident.
A portable fire extinguisher or fire blanket is used primarily in emergency situations, to extinguish or control small fires and thereby enable safe escape by staff or prevent smaller fires turning into large-scale incidents. We supply and install fire extinguishers and fire blankets, and offer ongoing maintenance services to ensure their continued safe operation, and are provided in combinations best suited to the requirements of the building.
Water Extinguishers
  • Water extinguishers are the cheapest and most widely used fire extinguishers, suitable for Class A fires affecting solids such as wood, paper, fabric and plastic.
Foam (AFFF) Extinguishers
  • Foam extinguishers are more versatile than water extinguishers and can be used for Class A and Class B fires, rendering them suitable for fires affecting solids such as wood, paper, fabric and plastic and flammable liquids such as oil, petrol and paraffin.
ABC Powder Extinguishers
  • ABC Powder extinguishers, also called “multi-purpose extinguishers,” are suitable for Class A, B and C fires, and are suitable for fires involving solids, flammable liquids and flammable gases such as methane, butane and propane. These extinguishers are ideal for vehicle protection.
Wet Chemical Extinguishers
  • Wet chemical extinguishers are generally utilised as specialist extinguishers for Class F fires involving cooking oils and fats, though they can also be utilised for Class A fires.
CO2 Extinguishers
  • CO2 (carbon dioxide) extinguishers are non-toxic and leave no residue, making them ideal for use on machinery and electrical equipment. These are also suitable for Class B flammable liquid fires.
Fire Blankets
  • Fire blankets are ideal for use in kitchens and staff break areas, where there is a risk of a cooking fire breaking out. Fire blankets are used to quickly and safely smother the fire and remove oxygen, thereby extinguishing the flames without residue being left in the surrounding area.
